What experience do you have as a tutor?

I have over 4 years of experience tutoring students from 5th grade through adult learners by sessions conducted both in person and online.

I have a BA in Psychology (where I studied Statistics), a Masters in Accountancy, and a Graduate certificate in Management Information Systems (where I mostly worked with Excel and SQL).

How is a session structured?

Each session is ultimately structured based on the needs of the individual student and their preferred learning style.

I incorporate multiple visual tools and examples, repeat any examples using various methods, and use a modified version of the Socratic Method. I will routinely pause and ask the student a question about the material being covered. This helps engage the student in the learning process, and the repetition of the material assists in learning and retention.

How and where are sessions held?

Sessions are held via Google Meets and a link to the session is sent to the client’s email. The link can be resent if the client loses track of it.Sessions can be held in-person if the client is able to meet in the Norman, OK (Cleveland County) area.The first session is scheduled after we have a discussion about your tutoring needs and personal availability. Any session after the first can simply be requested by the client via email, and I will respond within 24 hours (and usually within 1 to 2 hours) to confirm if I’m available at the requested day and time.

How long can sessions be?

Sessions can be scheduled for between 30 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes (1.5 hours) long. I have found that the student’s attention tends to fade towards the end of longer sessions, and shorter sessions tend to not be long enough for any in-depth topic. In my experience, 1 hour is the ideal length for each session.

The number of sessions per week will depend on client needs, and I currently have no limit on how many sessions are scheduled per week.
